There has been a sharp rise in the number of wrong number phone calls I’ve been getting. I’ve had two today, and I think there were two yesterday. In fact, since almost no one calls, pretty much the only time the phone rings is for a wrong number!
They’re not all restricted to the daytime either. Once, a call came in at 11:30 PM. It was some girl, at a bar or club (judging by all the background party-ish noise), hollering into the phone “Allo? Allo? C’est qui ça?” She could barely hear me tell her she had the wrong number.
Now that I think back to it, she didn’t even apologize – and that’s a pretty late hour to be dialing the wrong number! Fortunately, I am not what one would call a morning person, so I was up and about and it didn’t bother me in the least to be getting a call – just surprised me is all.
Still – I know people who would have been asleep and woken by the phone at that hour. And no, not just my parents.
