Okay guys - here’s Ginger again! I hope you like her, even though there aren’t very many positive comments, I know that everyone loves young, trim blondes - so enjoy!
Anyways, yesterday, Virgin Mobile had a promotion going: go out, buy one of their phones, then call their customer service line before 9 PM local time to activate it and they will give you the price of the phone back as credit on your account, which is then used against charges you rack up using the phone… In other words, you get a free phone!!! The way the promotion worked, you also got to keep your existing cell number - they were essentially yoinking you and your number from your previous service provider. I browsed through their rate plans, determined that switching would be cheaper than staying on my current month by month plan with Rogers, and ran out and got myself a pink Motorola RAZR. Yup, a pink one. ^_^
In a sense, this was a step down for me - my old Sony Ericsson phone was a GSM phone, this new one is a CDMA phone, so I’m taking a step back into old technology. That being said, I’ve been wanting to replace my old phone for a while now, and now I have a flip phone that will never get its buttons mashed in my handbag. ^_^ Plus it’s cute to boot. ^_^ I’m also spending less money per month to have a phone - I realize I’m essentially roped into staying with Virgin for the next year to make the most of the credit I got for the phone, but having no phone just isn’t an option for me, so having the same amount of money go farther makes good sense. ^_^
Besides, new things are always exciting. ^_^

I like the look and feel of the razr although the dated technology and unreliable guts have kept me from getting one. How much money will you save each month compared to your old plan? And how much did they charge to your card for the phone?
If my job didn’t supply me with a cell phone I wouldn’t have one. They are as invasive as RFID technology. I LOVE technology but I don’t need to be accessible all the time. Yes I can turn it off but then it’s worse turning it back on and messages are waiting, people are actually insulted that you won’t let them contact you.
I just bought a new phone myself — it is this new thing called RTRY. It is awesome! You have to put your finger in a smal hole and move it around and let it go while it spins outta control. Very sexy as you can see!
Jim: Yeah - not to mention they break so easily! Ummm.. we’ll have to see how much I save.. I normally spend about $50/month, and this is a $20/month plan, but only includes 200 minutes! So it’ll surprise us I’m sure!
