Trying new recipes is fun. Once upon a time, I thought it would be a good idea for me to make a real effort to sift through my cookbooks – somehow I’ve accumulated a fair number – on a regular basis to find new things to try making to add to my cooking repertoire. I hadn’t done it in a while. I’ve tried two in the past few days though – Friday I tried a new pasta sauce that was basically pureed roasted red peppers cooked with lots of garlic and some onion and basil, then tossed with tortellini. I cheated and bought pre-made Olivieri tortellini from Costco. The end result was quite tasty, though.

Tonight I tried another new pasta dish. It wasn’t very saucy, but it still managed to be quite flavourful – mix together some soy sauce, plum sauce, and sesame oil, set aside, then stir fry some green beans and red pepper, then cook some shrimp with some garlic, ginger, black pepper and green onion. Add back the veggies, then douse in sauce, then toss in some cooked pasta – I used angel hair pasta – and sprinkle with sesame seeds. Again, quite tasty.

I wonder what I’ll have a go at next????

Maybe for some special occasion I’ll give that a try. For today it’s just simple cupcakes. ^_^

I wonder when I’ll hear back on that job….

Except, wait. I did try a new kind of vitamin C supplement on Monday evening, because I ran out of the old stuff and had bought a different kind from Costco. Maybe I’m allergic to something in that? Is that even possible? And if it is, would the reaction show up in my feet first? That seems odd at best. Hmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm.

I suppose the best way to test this would be to stop with the vitamin C for a bit and see if the itchies clear up – I didn’t take one last night, but these are timed release caplets, so it’s likely that if I am allergic to something in them, it would have stayed in my system for some time. So I’ll skip it tonight as well, and see how things are going tomorrow morning. Once the itchies clear, I’ll try taking one more and see if they come back. If they do, I’ll know I’m allergic to something in the vitamin C, meaning I’ll have to go out and buy different ones.

If the itchies don’t come back? I guess then they’ll just be chalked up as ‘mystery itchies’… Or maybe it’s just mosquito season!! ^_^

Today was my haircut!

And I am a teensy bit ashamed to say that I wimped out – I did not get the super short do that I had imagined. I started having second thoughts last night, and by the time I got to the salon today, I was only willing to go through with the big chop if the stylist thought the result would rock the cazbah. So far, I like the new shortness, even if it’s not technically short – I suppose it could be classified as mid-length. I really really like the fact that my hair has a shape to it now though – long hair tends to be rather shapeless, cutting in layers doesn’t do much except remove weight. And no, it’s not just because my hair has been styled all fancy – because, really the fanciest bit of the styling that she did today was use a round brush on the ends. It was a pretty basic blow dry. So, equipped with my newness hair, I bopped down to the registries office to get my driver’s license updated with the motorcycleness.
