I seem to exist in this state where I am perpetually behind schedule.

I’ve tried to allow myself extra time to make up for my apparent inability to correctly estimate how long it will take me to do something. This always fails.

I’ve set all my watches ahead to try to keep me on time – if I look at my watch and believe I have enough time and leave when I am actually leaving earlier than I think, this increases the odds of my arriving on time. This doesn’t really work either. Things have improved somewhat since I made the decision to set my watches fast by a number of minutes that is not precisely known to me – instead of knowing my watch is, say, three minutes fast, I just know it’s a bit fast. So I can’t tell myself that I really have three more minutes than I think I do, since it might only be one, or it might even be five. This does help some with my inability to estimate accordingly, since it basically adds a small window of extra time into my planning.

Problem #1: I never really know what time it is, and sometimes, it’s important to know precisely what time it is.

Problem #2: I’ve been know to try to take that unknown window of extra time into account when planning, and I’ve figured the size of the window wrong, resulting in me being late anyway.

I suspect this is some deeply rooted aspect of my personality, and the only way to fix it is to move to some place where punctuality is highly devalued. I hear Spain is like that. Maybe I ought to move to Spain….

While I was generally ambivalent about the iPhone 3GS, viewing it as not really worth my money to upgrade, I’m considerably more interested in iPhone 4. It has a better camera, which would work out well for me, since I tend to use my phone’s camera more than a real digital camera – convenience issue. It does real multitasking, which would be nice. It has better clarity for web browsing, which would also be nice. It has video calling, which is neat, but I doubt I’d ever use it. It does video capture, which could be fun to play around with – no video on current phone, so I don’t have any sense of how much I’d actually use it. Probably I’m forgetting other features – clearly these are the ones that got the bulk of my attention.

Now, this may just be the disappointment over the vaporization of my Courier plans talking, but I think I’ll poke around a bit to see about upgrading. I like new toys.

That being said, the device was just announced today. Who knows how long it will take to come to Canada. I’m pretty sure it won’t be very soon, though – I checked my service provider’s website (Rogers) and there was no mention anywhere of iPhone 4. I’m taking this as being indicative of a longish wait.

I really like donuts.

I still think the very best donuts are the plain original glazed Krispy Kreme donuts, still warm, right out of their donut making machine. You can get pretty close by microwaving the donuts later, but fresh off the line is extra special.

I’ve been thinking off and on about trying yoga for a while now. Then again, I don’t really want to take a class. Since I am not particularly flexible at this point in time, my chances of being good right off the bat are rather slim. Also, it seems you need to be barefoot to do yoga, and I’m not sure how comfortable I am with the idea of going barefoot on a surface that someone else has been barefoot on very recently. Think they’d let me wear Crocs?

Maybe I should get a yoga video game for the Wii or PS3? That might be close enough to instruction to keep me from killing myself, but still be done in the privacy of my own home.

Maybe I should try something else? Take up running or something? The chances of me quitting in that scenario are almost a certainty. I don’t like running.

Maybe if I practiced enough I’d get good at it, and then I’d start liking it more? I’m definitely bad at it now.

Phew, all this exercise contemplation is wearing me out. Time for bed.

Of course, a world where summer vacations don’t exist at all is a different sort of agony. But let’s not go there for now.
