Anyway. I’m disappointed, but I will not cease to exist as of 4:30 PM tomorrow, so I have to figure out what comes next. I have to keep moving forward.

The worst bit is when I get stuck – I’ll have the thing halfway off my shoulders, but my arms are squinched up into an unnatural position thanks to the elastic properties of the fabric, and it takes me a few moments to figure out how to squiggle out.

Still, the like factor outweighs the make-me-feel-like-a-clumsy-toddler-learning-to-dressy-myself factor.

I am not a thrill ride person.

In 2007, I went on a trip to Disney World. It was fabulous. I did allow myself to be convinced to go on a few of the rides. It was not a massive personality change. I went on Splash Mountain because I knew there was loads of entertaining animatronics going on inside the mountain that I wanted to see. In fact, I think I went on that sucker two or three times. I went on the Rock ‘n’ Rollercoaster at least three times, because it was neat inside. I did not go on Space Mountain. I did not go on Thunder Mountain Railroad. I did not go on the Tower of Terror. The rides I did venture onto were beyond my usual comfort zone, but the payoff seemed to outweigh the cost.

What cost? Well, those two rides I did try out take your picture at a key point during the experience, and you have the option of purchasing a print of this picture as you exit. My travelling group kept falling about in peals of laughter every time our pictures would come up, because my facial expression was the same each and every time: pure, terror-filled panic. It’s a good thing I’m not filing in the US – their tax deadline is April 15. Which has come and gone. If I were filing taxes in the US, I’d be late. I wonder what sorts of penalties they have in place for late filing. I also wonder if those apply to a person who doesn’t earn enough to actually pay taxes. Or maybe I would need to pay taxes on my paltry wages south of the border.

Fortunately, I am north of the border. I still have time. I can still get my taxes filed on the early side.

Right. We’ll see where I’m at come the morning of April 30.

And then I get the weird overzealous urge to dip everything in bleach. Don’t worry, I haven’t and won’t ever do that – I don’t even have any bleach in my home.

Vegetables, on the other hand, are more forgiving. The worst consequence of undercooked veggies? Extra crunch. I’ve undercooked carrots before, I’ve undercooked broccoli before. Again, no one got sick. In fact, no one even complained, because there’s nothing wrong with a little crunch in your veggies. In fact, I would much rather have undercooked veggies than overcooked veggies, so I’m probably on the shorter end of the cooking time spectrum. I wonder if that makes for slightly more nutritious veggies?

Hmm. I should make stuffed peppers this weekend. Yum.
