Anyways, my friend’s parents got me a novelty pen for Christmas (they also got me a pair of earings). It’s a pretty standard ball point pen, except that there is a pink stone glued to the side, near the top, and it is topped with a small plaster hippopotamus. If you turn it so that the hippo is facing you, he is giving you a look.
I was a bit confused when I pulled it out of the gift bag, thinking You think I’m a hippo? Thankfully, that is not the case - or, well, so I assume, I didn’t actually ask the question.
Telus (phone/ISP company) has been running ads in Calgary for one of their services/products (not sure which one, since I never saw the ads) that featured the following song (performed for me by my sister):

So when my friend’s parents saw this pen at the Farmer’s Market fairly early on in the ad run (or so I guess), they snapped it up.
I’ll have to post a picture of it. It’s great! But, it has a plain standard blue ink in it, and I’ve come to be a bit, er, particular about my pens over the years (I like gel ink!). Then again, it’s a bit top heavy, because of the hippo, so I probably won’t write much with it - so I suppose the ink type doesn’t matter.
I just like the look.
