On that note, there’s something very yummy about butter.
It smells so good when you melt it down in a pan, to cook up onion, or mushrooms, or eggs, or for heating perogies. It smells so good when you spread it on toast, or toasted bagels, or waffles, or pancakes. It even releases a wonderful smell when you beat it smooth to make cookies. ^_^
When I was a sprout, we never had butter in the house. We had margarine instead, since at the time it was believed to be healthier, plus my mother feared that my sister and I might be allergic to butter since we were exhibiting some mild food allergies to various items (citrus fruits, chocolate, tomatoes…). I grew up believing that margarine really tasted just like butter. I realize now that that is very very wrong. Butter is in a class of its own. Sure, margarine still has its uses – the topping movie theatres put on their popcorn for free is margarine, and that’s wonderful. For at home, though, I don’t buy margarine. For all I know, movie theatre popcorn would reach a new savoury high when smothered in real butter – maybe I’ll have to try it next time I have a coupon for free popcorn. ^_^

Yes, my ex-g/f introduced me to butter about a year ago – odd since she didn’t have an ounce of fat on her. Anyway, I have really taken to it and noticed that it improves the flavour of everything from mac and cheese to toast! I also melt it and skim the dairy (the resulting product is called ghee) and then pour it over a nice new york strip steak or similar – very good!
Mmmm, pierogies with butter, yum! I love when my mom makes those. I don’t worry about health issues though – live fast, die young and leave a good-looking corpse, that’s my motto! Even if there actually IS a good looking corpse three feet away from me at the time.
Backing up to the spaghetti issue for a moment,your mom was wrong and you were right on this one! Reason being..the sauce should be seperate because if you cook the sauce with the spaghetti and/or serve it already on the noodles the moisture from the sauce will soak into the noodles very quickly and you will be left with “soggy” spaghetti. About butter,the best use would be to baste naked Kaori in butter and lick all those sensitive sensual & erogenous zones on her! Mmmmm…
