Today, I went to collect the mail, and I noticed an item that wasn’t addressed to me. Nor was it addressed to my address. When the company had been preparing items to be mailed, this one had gotten stuck to the envelope that was supposed to come to me - so it tagged along for the ride, postage free and everything.
Now, I know it’s a cheque - I can see the security pattern on the paper, and besides, the same outfit sent me a cheque, so it’s not inconceivable that they would send cheques to other people too. ^_^ Do you think it’s good karma for me to pop a stamp onto the envelope and send it on its merry way? I mean, 52 cents is not a dealbreaker in the grand scheme of things. And I’m sure the recipient would like to have his or her cheque in as timely a fashion as possible. I mean, I could just pop the envelope back in the mail without a stamp, in which case it would get bounced back to the original sender, who would then turn around and resend it. That could take a while, though, and again, I’m sure whoever is getting the cheque wants it quick fast. ^_^ But maybe affixing postage and sending it on its way isn’t the appropriate course of action? Maybe there are protocols, like the chain of evidence in CSI (Las Vegas, Miami, New York - they all worry about it)? If that were the case, then my attempt to spread some good karma around might end up being me mucking about with bad karma.
Then again, do I even believe in karma?
