I’ve noticed that I never ever have the urge to light a candle during the spring and summer months. Maybe because the temperatures are high enough to not make me start thinking of lighting fires. ^_^ Once fall and winter kick in, though, I start digging around, looking for my collection of candles and matches – yup, I’m fussy about matches, I bought a couple of giant boxes of wooden matches at a dollar store a few years ago, and I haven’t yet worked my way through them. Once I do, I’ll probably be on the lookout for more. There’s just something very satisfying about striking a wooden match, something that’s missing when you use those little fold up cardboard packets.
Years and years ago, my friend discovered this little shop where you can go and paint pottery, and we went a few times and I painted myself some little tealight candle holders. Last year I bought a dozen tealight candles for about two dollars, so I think I’m going to break those out soon and enjoy the cozy glow. ^_^ I also have a couple of fairly large pillar candles to go through – one smells like crabapples, the other smells like a blend of lemon and vanilla. ^_^
One thing I think I would like to pick up, though, is one of those little aromatherapy oil candle thingums. You know – it’s got a spot for a tealight on the bottom, and a spot on top where you put aromatherapy oils in with some water, and the scent gets released as the candle warms the water. I have one – it was left behind by the people who lived here before, so I inherited it in a sense – but the glass dish for the top part is badly etched from misuse, and there’s a crack in the bottom, which makes me think that I shouldn’t try using it anymore. I’ll have to watch out for one I like. ^_^

To me,a candle lit dinner is nice anytime of year. The soft warm glow is soothing to go along with a nice meal and cozy conversation. About your comment from the other day,i do believe you have the “smarts” to be a doctor if you wanted to become one. I just felt you would look sexier in a hot nurses outfit compared to the covered up look in a doctors apparel heh..
