Recently, in my online Christmas shopping browsing, I’ve stumbled across a pair of men’s flip flop sandals that had a different sort of marketing hook on them – they’ve got a bottle opener embedded right into the sole of one side. So should you be out and about and want to open a bottle of some chilled tasty beverage, however your tastes might run, you needn’t worry about finding someone with a bottle opener or making sure that you’re getting a twist top bottle – just take off your sandal, and have at it.

Now this initially struck me as sort of nifty – how neat, to have a bottle opener right in the sole of the shoe! Then, about five seconds later, I thought a little more about where shoes go. Shoes walk all over the dirty dirty ground. They’re there to protect your feet, and keep your feet from getting all mucky from walking all over the dirty dirty ground. If the bottle opener is in the sole of the shoe, then it too is walking all over the dirty dirty ground. And if you’re using that bottle opener to open a bottle you intend to put to your lips, you’re essentially putting your lips to the dirty dirty ground!!!!

Blechhhhhhhhh!!! And what if you step in dog mess???

It’s a good thing for me that cola doesn’t come in non-twist off bottles anymore. ^_^ I will never find myself unable to get into my bottle of cola. Unlike those bottles of pasta sauce. Darn things!!!
