In either November or December of 2003, I purchased a large box of microwave popcorn from Costco. Needless to say, I still have some of it. So I tossed a packet in the microwave tonight, thinking I’d enjoy some warm buttery popcorny goodness.
Instead, I got a smouldering bag, lots of smoke, and no popcorn. Some of the seeds popped properly. But many of them didn’t, and these caught fire instead. There were no flames, but there was a whole lot of smoke. I ended up dousing the contents of the bag in water and then throwing it out promptly.
So there you have it. Microwave popcorn will not keep forever and ever, and should therefore be eaten promptly.
That being said, I did not feel like being a gourmet yesterday – this is my entire days intake:
*a small bowl of Cherry Vanilla Cheerios (no milk)
*a couple of handfuls of potato chips
*a handful of Jelly Belly jelly beans
*two bottles of lemon-flavoured Dasani water
*one taquito
*half a box of Kraft Dinner
*one popsicle
*a handful of tortilla chips, with salsa
Tonight is Fondue

About the popcorn,i learned the same lesson the hard way about a year ago. I wondered why..it turns out popcorn whether the traditional type or the microwave variety will lose its moisture over time. Therefore,popping becomes only a dream.. For the conventional type of popcorn,you can add a few drops of water to the kernels & seal the bag. Let it sit for a day and it is as good as new! For my self i microwave the tradtional type in a glass bowl to avoid all the preservatives and excessive saltthat is added to the microwave variety. About your food intake from the other day,Good God!! promise me kaori that you will add some healthy food to supplement your diet of snack food so i wont have to worry about you.
