Speaking of food, I have blogged before about my attempts at cooking, both the successful, and the less successful. ^_^ I have characterized myself as a moderately competent cook.
After having watched Ratatouille, it may not surprise you to learn that I now have a hankering to try making something new. In fact, I want to learn how to make ratatouille. ^_^ Not just any ratatouille. I want to make one like Rémy’s in the movie, one that’s so good that it makes Frenchmen have flashbacks to their childhood days….
In all likelihood, though, that’s not going to happen. This ambition might stick with me long enough for me to actually find a manageable looking recipe and try it, but I sincerely doubt that it will be flashback-inducingly good…. For one thing, I lack Rémy’s finely tuned sense of smell that helped guide him in his cooking exploits. My sense of smell is pretty basic – it pretty much just goes in binary oppositions. Something smells either good or bad. Something smells either like food or not like food. ^_^ Smelling two things separately doesn’t tell me much about whether or not those two things are going to go well together or not.
Still, I think it’d be fun to be able to say I know how to make ratatouille!!!
