Speaking of Asian, I went out for a sushi lunch today. ^_^
It was pretty good. Not the best sushi I’ve ever had - that honour goes to Osushi in Boston - but better than many places I’ve tried in Canada. I had a sort of sampler plate - I got one salmon nigiri with a spicy mango sauce on top, one tuna nigiri with a daikon radish sauce on top, one shrimp nigiri with cajun sauce on top, one scallop nigiri with garlic chips on top, one mackerel nigiri with…um…some sort of sauce on top, I don’t remember what it was anymore (hope it wasn’t bukkake sauce! ewwww). >_< I also got two pieces of a cajun shrimp salad roll, and two pieces of a miso tuna roll, and a small mixed greens salad with pine nuts, pomegranate, and grapefruit. The sauces on the nigiri were a neat touch, and they were all lightly seared too. Mackerel is still a bit strongly flavoured for my tastes, but with the searing and the sauce, it was better than my previous experience. Something in the mixed greens salad was very very bitter - far more bitter than I've ever experienced in a salad - and the dressing was a little bit bitter and quite salty, so that was less nice, though the pine nuts and pomegranate and grapefruit were nice touches. ^_^ The really unfortunate thing, though, was that the water they used to make their ice cubes had a strong metallic taste to it, so my cola, which should have been wonderful, was not so good. I still drank most of it, but by the end of lunch when the ice cubes were pretty much all melted that metallic taste was really apparent, and I just couldn't finish it. T-T Which is such a shame, because wasting cola is a terrible thing to do. But I had to. T-T
