Anyways, here’s an ocular update, and then some!!
The brattiness of my right eye is subsiding, thanks to the heightened dosage of medicated drops. I’m now to continue with the hourly drops for today, then switch to every two hours for the weekend. I’m also to continue with the antibiotic drops in the bratty eye three times a day until my next checkup, which is set for Monday afternoon. I’m also experiencing some dryness in both eyes, so I’m supposed to be more rigorous with the artificial tears. Otherwise, things are good in the vision department.
In other news, have you noticed today’s date? Today is the release of the iPhone in Canada. Did I get up bright and early to see if I could get myself one? Yes – I made some phone calls yesterday to ensure that the store I went to did indeed have 16 GB iPhones, and to verify their opening time. I was there about half an hour before opening this morning, and obediently got in line. I had some knitting with me. Did I actually get my iPhone? No. I was misled a little when I called yesterday – when I asked if they had any 16 GB units, I was told, “Yes, we have some, but very few – we have many more of the 8 GB units.” I asked if “very few” meant fewer than five. The answer was yes.
Now, when someone tells you that they have “some”, this means “more than one”, doesn’t it? That’s the interpretation I got. It turned out to be wrong in this instance. Here, “some” had been used to mean “one”, but even that wasn’t really appropriate, because some lucky soul had been able to stake a claim on that unit by paying a deposit ahead of time. When I had been phoning around last week asking if it was possible to do such a thing, or if there were waiting lists or anything, I was told no. There was apparently a small window this week where the answer was yes. Oh well.
I’m on a waiting list now, and have been assured that more units will be arriving relatively promptly – they expect the next batch to come in on Wednesday. I’ve been waiting over a year – a few more days won’t kill me. Besides, I made sure to tell them that I would be a new Rogers customer, in the hopes that this would give me priority over existing Rogers customers looking to upgrade their phones. I’m hopeful!!!!!
