I got Rock Band. Played my way through it. Even did the Endless Setlist at the end, I did!

Well. I got The Beatles Rock Band. I’ve finished the story line in that one, meaning I’ve played every song that came on the disc. I’ve even purchased some of the additional songs available in the PlayStation Store, and have developed an appreciation for Beatlemania – granted, I’m forty years late to the party. In what may be Beatle blasphemy, but is par for the course for me, I don’t think I have a favourite.

Having pretty well exhausted the playlist for The Beatles Rock Band, you’d think I’d attack what remains of Rock Band 2 with renewed zeal.

Instead, I got Lego Rock Band.

I haven’t gotten very far in it yet. So far it’s fun, like the others. The graphics are sort of overly cutesy, not in a flowers and puppies sort of way, but in an aimed at five year olds sort of way. I also get the feeling as I’m playing that I’m basically playing a giant Lego commercial – the little trivia bits are more often than not about Lego instead of about the bands providing the music, or gameplay.

I’m not saying I don’t like my life – I like being me a whole lot, as it turns out. I’m merely acknowledging that there may be days where things that I think are interesting really aren’t, and I’ll still blog them because I think they’re interesting, but it totally wasn’t blog fodder. If I were willing to photo document evidence of my clumsiness for the webiverse that might liven things up, but I’m a prideful, prideful girl, so there’ll be almost none of that. I have done it before, so never say never.

Today, though, when I think back on the mundane little errands I spent my day on, even I’m not that interested, so I know there’s no hope of trying to spruce it up into something bloggable. The only vaguely interesting thing is that I was presented with yet more evidence that crazy runs deep in my genetic code, and probably I am doomed, but at present I’m unwilling to share the details of what that evidence was.

Instead, imagine an exciting escapade for me. Maybe tomorrow something interesting will happen. Or something will happen that makes me think an interesting thought. Or maybe I’ll have an interesting dream. Now that I think of it, last night’s dream was pretty wacky, but the details are sort of hazy. I can’t believe that January 2010 is nearly over and done.

Basically, what you do is position the light emitter on a table beside you so that the light is visible only in your peripheral vision, and the device is designed in such a way that it will only remain on for 15 minutes – I guess that’s a dose of light. The claim is that by dosing yourself with blue light as needed, you will find your energy levels improve.

Even though I feel okay in the winter, I was curious, and Costco has a fantastic return policy, so I grabbed one. It also happened to be on sale, which only encouraged me to purchase it.

And? Well, it’s a tough call. Like I said, I don’t notice a dip in my energy level, so when I tried dosing myself that one afternoon, I didn’t notice a surge either. Since that one trial, I’ve been sort of forgetting to keep trying the light dosing – again, because I seem to be totally fine running my days as is.

That being said, I have found a nifty feature of it that has kept me from returning it. It has a built in alarm function – you set the time you want to wake up, and the light comes on a few minutes earlier to help ease you into the wakeup process. Just toss them in when I toss in whatever veggies I’m adding that time. That might add a pleasant zing to the broth, and to the stuff that gets cooked in the broth, right?

The characters are over-the-top stereotypes – the high-powered, emotionally unavailable boss lady, the two socially inept genius inventors/developers, the charismatic head of the R&D department, the product testing coordinator who is more normal than the scientists and the boss lady, but still has some quirks to her – but none of them are that sort of over-the-top that gets on your nerves and makes you abandon the show. They’re sort of at the extreme end of possible human beings, if that makes any sense whatsoever. The sorts of scenarios that unfold in each episode are also over-the-top, but again, not so far fetched that you roll your eyes and mentally shut down. It all just seems like fun. Maybe because of the dialogue – it’s really good. It’s fun and silly, but not like low-brow flatulent silly.

So why am I posting here about how much I like Better Off Ted? Because I hear it’s on the verge of being cancelled – in fact, I’m informed that it’s practically confirmed as being cancelled once season 2 finishes up. Which would be a real shame. TV needs more entertaining shows like this, and we could probably do with fewer of those reality shows that are set up to appeal to the baser, voyeuristic parts of human nature… Now, I admit I’m a bit of a voyeur – but more in the sexual realm!
