I think odours need to be pretty strong before I detect them, and I am no good with complex scents – everything just blends together, and I cannot pick out the subtler notes of the component fragrances. Dr. Pepper, for instance, is said to be a combination of 23 distinct flavours, and I know people who are able to detect many of the individual components with a few sniffs. Me? The only identifiable component that I can nose out is cherry, though I wouldn’t label the fragrance in its entirety as cherry. I would probably use the term sweet to describe it, though. Still, in spite of my olfactory limitations, I have detected scents that have taken my mind whooshing back to some other time and place in my history. I think I’m so clumsy because I consistently fail to remember precisely where things are. So when I’m climbing into the car, I’ll think I’ve bent my knees enough, like most days, except that this one time I’ve missed bending them enough by about two centimetres, which is totally enough to make me bump my head. When I reached for the salt and pepper this morning, I again thought I should have an extra centimetre of room, and thus reached a bit too high.

For someone who’s been known to get a bit obsessive and weird over details, you’d think that would extend to knowing where other objects are in the world around me. Apparently, it does not.

Well. I got The Beatles Rock Band. I’ve finished the story line in that one, meaning I’ve played every song that came on the disc. I’ve even purchased some of the additional songs available in the PlayStation Store, and have developed an appreciation for Beatlemania – granted, I’m forty years late to the party. In what may be Beatle blasphemy, but is par for the course for me, I don’t think I have a favourite.

Having pretty well exhausted the playlist for The Beatles Rock Band, you’d think I’d attack what remains of Rock Band 2 with renewed zeal.

Instead, I got Lego Rock Band.

I haven’t gotten very far in it yet. So far it’s fun, like the others. The graphics are sort of overly cutesy, not in a flowers and puppies sort of way, but in an aimed at five year olds sort of way. I also get the feeling as I’m playing that I’m basically playing a giant Lego commercial – the little trivia bits are more often than not about Lego instead of about the bands providing the music, or gameplay.
