Knowing my luck, though, that’ll probably happen when I try to remove it so that I can ship it back to Apple once the new one gets here.

In fact, with all these little successes I’ve started to accumulate, I’m starting to wonder if another mulligan day is looming. What’s a mulligan day? Well, it’s a day you want to mulligan on. What’s a mulligan? I’m not sure why I know this, because I don’t watch golf at all, but I do know this term, and it means that you get a do-over on your shot. I’m not sure what circumstances have to be in place to allow a player to qualify for a mulligan, but it’s a do-over. Some days you just want to restart, undo everything that’s happened so far, and just try again. Those are mulligan days. I guess they’re the universe’s way of balancing everything out when things are going just a little too well for a person.

The last mulligan day I had was almost two weeks ago. I got delayed leaving for work, which meant I had to rush. Halfway to work, I realized I’d left the key to my office at home, and since I was rushing, I had no time to turn around to get it. I forgot some stuff I had wanted to work on over the weekend in my office when I left work, only this time I realized I had forgotten when I got home. I then had to rush off to an appointment. I considered spinning by the office after my appointment, but again realized after leaving the house that I had left my office key behind, and again had no time to backtrack to retrieve it.

Anyways, on Monday night, as bedtime approached, I started feeling a bit of a weird headache. The pain was sort of localized behind my right eye. I figured it must be some sort of fatigue or something, so I just went through my usual bedtime rituals and went to sleep.

I had also developed some light sensitivity - when a bright enough light source entered my field of vision, it would send a shot of pain back into my brain, much like the headache I’d had Monday night.

This morning, my eye wasn’t as painful as it had been last night, but it still wasn’t better, so I called the clinic and asked if it would be possible to see a doctor today. They squeezed me in, and the doctor looked at my eyes and mentioned that they were still very, very dry. She checked out my right eye, and identified the problem - an epithelial imperfection, where a section of tissue seemed to be missing. She suspects that what happened was my eye dried out more than usual while sleeping Monday night, and the lid stuck to the cornea. When I opened my eye, the lid took away a bit of tissue with it!!! ***EWWWWW***

Now my eye needs to heal. Given how bad the dryness is, she advised me to use the super thick drops I’ve been using at night all day, in both eyes. Trouble is, this stuff is so thick that it blurs my vision when I put the drops in. This makes working pretty much impossible - I can’t see enough to read well, and I’m supposed to try to put these drops in pretty consistently, so I really only get about a half hour of good clear vision before I should start thinking about putting more drops in.

I’m back to see the doctor again on Friday. Here’s hoping for fantastic improvement before then. Why can’t my eyes just behave????

Even if my eyes regress and I end up needing corrective lenses again, it won’t be the same prescription as what I had before I got my eyes fixed.
