Okay, sometimes I wish I was a guy…. Which is all well and good, until I go out for dinner. I discovered this problem last night. I enjoy eating out, as it’s an opportunity for me to enjoy meals that I wouldn’t normally have at home. The problem? The dishes at this restaurant that were interesting and appealing to me were also dishes that I can and do prepare at home. They had a butter chicken dish, but, not to brag or anything, mine is better than most restaurant ones I’ve tried, except for the butter chicken at Le Taj, which is just amazing. ^_^ They had some neat stir fry dishes, but again, I can and do make stir fry at home, and when I make it I only get vegetables I like, cut into the sizes I like. They had some fish dishes, but I can do fish at home too. I ended up ordering a spiced blackened basa fillet, served over rice with seasonal vegetables, which ended up being exactly five green beans. It was tasty. But it wasn’t as special as I typically expect from eating out.

I suppose this is a good thing - it’s probably more budget conscious for me to eat at home. It’s also sad though - I like eating out, but being able to make good food at home is taking the fun out of it. And I’m not even a really good cook - just moderately competent. No wonder the restaurant business is tough.

That being said, I think it’s getting to be time for me to browse through my cookbooks to look for a new dish to try. ^_^

I changed the bed linens on Monday. Yesterday was an irritating anomaly - I got nothing done, work-wise, I only managed to wash some pots and pans, cleaning-wise, and I wasn’t even playing video games! T-T

Mysteriously enough, though, going to bed earlier doesn’t seem to help. I’ve tried this. I’ll go to bed roundabout midnight, which I think is reasonable if I’m not trying to wake up by 7 AM or something - and still I can sleep till noon and have to drag myself out of bed…..

I wonder if perhaps my body has a magic number - a certain number of hours’ sleep that is just perfect, and would allow me to wake up feeling refreshed and ready to go. Try to wake up before hitting that magic number, and I’m still sleepy. Sleep beyond that magic number and I’m groggy. Possible? Maybe. Can I find that magic number? Well. We’ll have to see… I hope it’s not 15!
