Unfortunately, against my better judgement, I allowed someone to talk me into bringing cornbread after someone had already signed up to bring the drinks.

I went out and bought a couple of boxes of Jiffy cornbread, but I don’t think a boxed mix can save me…. I’m going to blame the unintentional food poisoning I inflict on my coworkers on the barbequed turkey (yes, that’s right — they’re barbequing a turkey) that they’ve ordered…. I guess Turkeys ARE traditional for Christmas….
Eitherway, that will teach them to invite me to a potluck where I have to bring a solid food item…. I did bring sushi once, and cookies to another - those are my only success stories!

Anyways, I bought new tires for my car today. They were expensive, but the ones that were on there before were over five years old, and the car seems to slip a bit more than it used to in slippy conditions. Since winter driving comes with a higher incidence of slippy conditions than driving the rest of the year, I figured it’s a good time for this kind of splurge - the cost of the tires is less than the cost of an accident!

When I dropped the car off for the install of the new tires, they asked me if I wanted them to simply discard the old ones for me. I said that depended on what sort of condition the old tires were in - after all, they didn’t look completely bald to my inexperienced eyes, so if there was still a fair amount of tread left I could keep them and get these put back on for the summer months. When I returned later to pick up the car after the install, I asked about those old tires. They told me that the tires had had 3/32 of tread left on them, which is very little. You’re supposed to seriously consider replacing your tires when you get down to 5/32… The mechanic had actually written on the work order for my car: “3/32 of tread left - not worth it”. So while I was right about the tires not being totally bald yet, I did not insist on keeping them. ^_^

Now I almost want some good slickery driving conditions to test out my new tires in. ^_^

Okay, you know my feelings on Scar 13 - She’s very attractive, but I don’t like the cutting..

Anyways, last Thursday, I woke up with a sniffle. It was a bizarre sniffle - it only seemed to affect one side of my nose, and there was no accompanying congestion or stuffiness, or any headache or other kind of malaise. I just ended up blowing my nose a whole bunch.

Still, fearing I was in the early stages of a cold, and about to head out on my trip, I took some immunity boosting supplements (Cold F/X - like echinacea, but better) and hoped for the best.

Friday, I took a 12 hour Sudafed, and was pretty normal. Saturday, I took nothing, and was completely fine while shopping.

Today, however, I have a sniffle again. This time, though, it’s affecting the other side of my nose.

I wonder what’s going on? T-T Maybe it just means that I should shop more, and vacation more???

It seems like such a shame to go through all that just to wash one pan, so I wait till I have two or three. Various obligations prevented me from vacuuming in the afternoon as I had planned - I was going to vacuum while laundry tumbled around in the dryer, but ended up having to go do something completely unrelated to housework.

I just finished the kitchen cleanup, and putting the laundry away, but I find I’m feeling highly resistant to the idea of vacuuming. For one thing, it’s dark now - and I’m used to vacuuming in the daytime. Vacuuming in the evening just seems so wrong! ^_^

That and then it was getting to be dinnertime. I can’t finish the job up before eating dinner, and the idea of doing a little bit and then stopping bothers me…

Then, silly me, I decided to upgrade the software on my blog, and broke all SORTS of things - so let me know if you see anything wacky!!

Ehhhhhhh, it’ll be okay if I leave the vacuuming a little longer. Those dust bunnies haven’t reached mutant proportions yet. ^_^
