Okay guys, it’s time for a bit more XOXOleah! Leah is a hot, blonde teen with a gorgeous body, and a supermodel face…. Combined with the fact that Leah gets fully naked, and has lesbian experiences with her equally hot friends, it’s a decent teen site if you’re not a huge fan of seeing penises in porn!!! ^_^ XOXOLeah doesn’t do hardcore…
Anyways, this Thanksgiving, I think I’m going to be giving thanks for the wealth of information available on the Internet. ^_^ I know it’s many months aways…
But thanks to the Internet, I have learned how to knit. ^_^
Well, my mother actually taught me the very basics of knitting - how to do a knit stitch, how to do a purl stitch, how to bind off, and then much later - how to cast on. Thanks Mum! ^_^
That being said, it’s by reading various knitting blogs and articles about patterns and techniques that I’ve really expanded my knitting horizons. In 2006, I knit myself a chunky scarf and a couple of fluffy baby blankets for other people. Then, not wanting to add another chunky scarf to my wardrobe, I wondered what to knit next. The answer came with the discovery of a hole in one of my socks, which of course meant that they were all about to go. Socks.
So I started poking around online, looking for instructions on how to knit a sock. I found a lovely tutorial. So I bought some yarn and double pointed needles at an online store, and when they arrived, I cast on and started knitting using the pattern I’d found.
Six pairs of socks later, I decided to try a rounded heel instead of the square one in the pattern. I like the rounded heel better, which in turn means I don’t really wear my square-heeled socks anymore. Oh well, chalk one up to learning.
I’m now thinking again about trying a new kind of heel - a short row shaped heel. At this point, I don’t even know what that means. But I have this problem of having a little hole in the gusset that I can’t figure a way around - picking up an extra loop doesn’t fix it - so I’m wondering if a short row heel might help with that. I’ll have to look around a bit for a nice little tutorial to teach me how. ^_^
As I alluded to in my last few posts, a few days ago I was perusing the archives of a now defunct knitting blog, I stumbled upon the term nostepinne and wondered what it was, and why people were obscurely raving about it in their comments on the blog. Turns out, it’s a super simple ballwinding technique. Thus far I’ve just been winding my yarn into balls, which is fine, except if the ball gets away from me things go badly. Recently, I was working on a sock on in Vancouver, and my ball of yarn got away, and rolled away from me on the floor of the ferry. It didn’t get too far, thankfully, but I still had to get up, go find it, and then figure out how to trace the yarn back to my seat without crawling around all over the floor too much. With a nostepinne, though, I don’t get balls - I get cakes. ^_^ Little yarn cakes that spool out from the centre, and sit flat and stable on a surface, and don’t roll away from me when I shift positions a little bit. Huzzah! ^_^ I

For maximum anti-rolling how about a yarn “cube” instead of cakes??
Kaori: Speaking of balls, will you knit me a single sock, I don’t have a pair of ‘those’, that looks like this o!o and the material for the middle part must be highly elastic?
Jim: Hahah.. I wish!
IFA: Hahahah…. a weiner warmer… they exist
