Anyways, once upon a time, when I was younger and the world seemed such an idyllic place, full of promise, I thought maybe I could be a doctor. I enjoyed science in school, and did pretty well with it.

That being said, there’s a game I’ve played a bit on the Wii called Trauma Centre: Second Opinion in which you basically play as a surgeon, and various patients come through and you have to fix them up. The nifty thing is the way they use the Wii controls – you use the nunchuk to select the tool you want to use, and then you use the motion sensing capabilities of the Wii remote in conjunction with various button presses to actually perform the procedure. So to use the scalpel, you select your scalpel and then point to where you want to cut, then press the A button to cut. To use the forceps, you select the forceps, then point at the thing you want to pick up, then press the A and B buttons together to grab it. Pretty nifty. ^_^
And the game reminds me that medicine is neat, even if the procedures and treatments you perform in the game are pretty far fetched – one of your tools is an antibiotic gel that will also instantly heal minor cuts and mend broken bones….
That being said – I’m not even considering looking into med schools. ^_^ I’ll keep my practice in the virtual realm, thanks much. ^_^

I find modern medicine quite fascinating! The body has an amazing capacity to heal even from the most extreme and horrific wounds such as in war.
