Today I eyed the stack of things to be filed – bills that have been paid and other bits of paperwork that I think I need to keep – and thought, gosh, that pile sure is big and precarious looking. Maybe I’d better take care of that today.
So I did – I hauled it all over to my filing cabinet, and started sorting through the big pile to organize it into smaller piles, and stapling together things that go together.
It took me about an hour and a half to get through everything and get it all squared away.
At the bottom of the stack were things dating back to March 2008. This means that the last time I cleaned up my filing pile was over a year ago. I really should force myself to do this more often – for one thing, it’d mean I wouldn’t have to spend an hour and a half to get through it!
Also, the pile of paper had a bit of a smell to it that made me a bit queasy feeling as I sifted through it and organized it. Not really a bad smell, just something that didn’t encourage feelings of robust health. I think it might have been the thermal paper that gets used to print out receipts for store purchases – there were lots of those in the pile.
But hey – it’s done!! So much for letting the hamster rest….
